The History of Recipe Boxes

It is important that before we start this project, that we understand how recipe boxes came to be. Betty Crocker was the first company to release and market recipe boxes during the 1920s. This was a game changer, and within a short amount of time they began to be advertised in many popular magazines. The first recipe box that was released was called the “Gold Medal Flour ‘Kitchen-Tested’ Recipe Box” and was made out of wood.
