A Friendship Formed Through Toast

This recipe is very special to me, as it was shared with me through a friend. What started as a simple exchange of ingredients and steps quickly became something much more meaningful. It started to become a routine for the both of us, making french toast about once a week. We would make our toast, then find a funny movie or TV show to watch together. Once our magnificent meal is complete, we would complain together over our least favourite part, cleaning the dishes. This recipe reminds me of how food has a way of bringing people together and how recipes can travel from kitchen to kitchen, carrying little pieces of friendship along the way. Even though I won’t always live with this friend, I will always think of her when I make french toast.

Ingredients:

4 large eggs

⅔ cup milk

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

½ teaspoon cinnamon

Sea salt

Butter or oil, for the pan

8 thick slices bread, I like thick-sliced brioche

Maple syrup and/or powdered sugar, for serving

Steps To Bake:

1st- Grab a bowl that is bigger than your bread slices. Then you add your eggs, milk, and vanilla to the container and mix.

2nd- To your wet mix, you will add your cinnamon and salt, and once again mix until everything is combined and smooth

3rd- Place a slice of bread into the mixture, ensuring that the whole piece is submerged. While you are dipping your bread you should get a pan and place it on medium heat on the stove.

4th- Add butter to the pan, then place your sliced, soaked bread onto the pan, 2 minutes each side.

5th- Dress up your toast with maple syrup, powdered sugar, nutella or fruits (the dealers choice) and you are left with the most delicious french toast!
